Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Zambujeira do Mar is between late spring and early fall, from May to October. Summer, particularly July and August, is the peak season, attracting visitors with its sunny weather, warm temperatures, and the renowned MEO Sudoeste Music Festival. For a quieter experience, consider visiting in late spring or early fall when the weather is still warm and the crowds have lessened.
Getting There
Lisbon, Faro and Other Major Cities The town is about 2.5 hours drive from Lisbon. Hence, it facilitates a weekend getaway quite well. From Faro, it takes about 1.5 hours to drive north along the coast, stopping at other seaside towns and villages. Car, bus and train Transportation Getting to Zambujeira do Mar by car is probably the most convenient way to explore neighbouring town areas.
For those without a car, there are direct buses from Lisbon to Zambujeira do Mar, operated by Rede Expressos. While there are no train stations in Zambujeira (the closest are Funcheira or Santa Clara-Saboia), you can take a train to these villages from Lisbon and then go the rest of the way by taxi or bus.
Getting Around Town: Zambujeira do Mar is a small and walkable village, so you won't need a car to get around the town. But If you want to go to the beaches and coastline trails closest, it is OK not to go such a long distance. Renting a bicycle or scooter might be your one way to discover this incredible landscape.

As a final point of reference, we wanted to disclose that we actually stayed at Azul Zambujeira do Mar and had an amazing time. During our stay, the lovely atmosphere and hosts were unbeatable.

Zambujeira Beach

Located right in the village, this central beach boasts beautiful, long stretches of sand, clean water, and imposing cliffs. The nearby cafes and restaurants in Zambujeira Beach make it easy to spend all day swimming and sunbathing.
Alteirinhos Beach
You can quickly get to Alteirinhos Beach by walking or driving a little bit south of Zambujeira Beach, and it's perfectly worth it! It is a more secluded beach, best known for its natural pools that form during low tide. It is also a popular nudist place and an ideal location for photography.
Praia do Carvalhal
Another stunning beach, further south, is Praia do Carvalhal, which boasts dramatic cliffs with caves and rock formations surrounding the Area. This beach is perfect for checking out tide pools and a pleasant, peaceful environment. Carvalhal is also known for its excellent water quality and suitability for swimming.
Praia dos Machados
Praia dos Machados. Another, more secluded and less marketed beach, with limited amenities, but just as beautiful vistas line this stretch of sand. Best for Vacationers Who Desire Seclusion and A More Natural Beach Experience It's an excellent spot for picnicking, collecting shells, and even beach fishing.
