Our Story with Carvoeiro Algarve Began in 1983

People often ask us why we've based Pac4Portugal in Carvoeiro.

The answer is simple.

Our relationship with Carvoeiro began long before Pac4Portugal ever existed.

We first came here in 1983, and over the years we've returned three or four times almost every year.

During that time we've watched Carvoeiro grow and change, while our own holidays changed too.

• As children.

• As teenagers.

• As adults.

• As a family holidaying in groups ranging from eight to twenty-two people.

Today we're fortunate enough to call this beautiful corner of Portugal home, but we still remember what it felt like to discover it for the very first time.

Every Stage of Life Brings a Different Holiday

One thing we've realised over more than four decades is that the same destination can offer completely different experiences depending on where you are in life.

• As children, the beaches were everything.

• As teenagers, having a little more independence became important.

• As adults travelling with larger family groups, we appreciated spacious villas, evenings together around the barbecue and the freedom to enjoy our holiday without being restricted by hotel timetables.

Now, living here, we see Carvoeiro differently again.

Not simply as a holiday destination, but as the place where so many adventures across Portugal begin.

If you want to spend every day on the beach, you can.

Interestingly, although we live here, we rarely spend much time in the town itself.

Apart from the occasional visit or perhaps enjoying the Carvoeiro Black & White event once a year, we're usually somewhere else.

Only around 45 to 50 minutes from Faro Airport, it's ideally placed for exploring the Algarve in every direction.

Travel inland and you'll find historic towns, rolling countryside and a very different side of Portugal.

Explore east and there are more beaches, marinas and coastal towns waiting to be discovered.

Over the years that changed.
